Roland Chow

Roland Chow has been in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 43 years.  He is currently a Partner at Optura Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisor which specializes in accountable and outcome-based financial planning utilizing data science and fintech (financial technologies).  He is also an investor/advisor to several fintech startups and real estate companies.  Roland has been in the high-tech industry for over 16 years and in the financial industry for over 19 years.  His key roles in corporate include management consulting, product strategy, and business development spanning industries including technology, finance, consumer retail, and manufacturing.  He was formerly the youngest founding board member and investor at Tri-Valley Bank (acquired by Heritage Bank).  He has experience with a number of different asset classes including real estate, alternatives, derivatives, and equities.  Roland started his career at Ernst and Young LLP after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley.  He was formerly the Product Manager at i2.  His background in analytics and big data include price optimization, customer analytics, predictive modeling, forecasting, and machine learning.  At the SAS Institute, he was responsible for advancing the analytics roadmap for a number of Fortune 500 companies.  He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors.

Roland was drawn into the financial services industry because some mentors of his that were pastors and missionaries gave him words of encouragement to explore this career path and to use it as a platform to help others.  Roland feels that there are very few industries where he can have the same level of impact on the long-term wellbeing and success of an of an individual or a family.

He has been happily married for over 20 years with 2 daughters and one Yorkie.  As a family, they also have a side business where they rent out vacation resorts on Kauai, Maui, Hawaii, and Oahu.  His favorite move is Glory.  Some other interesting facts about Roland:  he previously sang tenor in a church choir and was part of the original analytics team that developed the technology behind Safeway for U (Just4U) that shoppers use every time they go shopping at Safeway.
